AI chatbot integration for Chatwoot

Connect a Chatwoot inbox to GPT KeFu through an Agent Bot. Keep your customer conversations in Chatwoot and configure the AI instructions, knowledge base and reply behavior in one project.

Check your Chatwoot instance first

  • Chatwoot Cloud: the account must provide the API and webhook access needed by the integration. Check your current Cloud plan before starting.
  • Self-hosted Chatwoot: GPT KeFu supports version 4.13+ with Agent Bot signing support. The instance must be reachable from the service over HTTPS.
  • Credentials: use an administrator’s personal API access token and the Agent Bot Webhook Secret. These are different credentials.
  • Inbox: have permission to configure the target inbox and bind its Agent Bot.

A verified connection before AI starts replying

The Agent Bot sends conversation events to the dedicated callback URL shown in GPT KeFu. GPT KeFu checks the signed events and sends replies back through the Chatwoot API.

Saving credentials does not enable AI. Check API connectivity and send a real visitor message to verify the signed callback. Only then enable replies and send another message to test the result. This separates a connection check from an actual AI response.

Answer from your product information

On a plan that includes RAG, add your FAQ, product documentation and support policies to the project knowledge base. Start with a focused topic so you can compare each answer with its source.

The knowledge base has plan-specific document limits. A successful import is only the first check: test ordinary wording, follow-up questions and questions the documentation does not answer.

Let people participate in the same conversation

When your plan includes automatic pause, a human reply can pause AI for a duration you configure. Later customer messages follow the current settings. Do not treat this as a permanent transfer to a human queue.

Crisp-specific automatic welcome messages and Telegram Topic forwarding are not Chatwoot project features. The Agent Bot already supplies conversation status events; a separate account webhook is optional.

Questions before you start

Is GPT KeFu itself installed on my Chatwoot server?
No. Self-hosted here describes your Chatwoot instance. You connect that instance to the GPT KeFu service through its API and signed Agent Bot callbacks.
Does an API connection check prove the bot works?
No. You must also receive a real signed callback, enable the integration and send a new visitor message to verify an AI reply.
Is this Chatwoot Captain?
No. GPT KeFu is a separate integration using Chatwoot’s Agent Bot mechanism. Check GPT KeFu project entitlements and your Chatwoot plan independently.
